1) Of today my favorite tool would be the Ipad, the graphics are quick and catchy, typing on it isn't as difficult as my Iphone, so students could quickly type on it. I think the Ipad (with an Ipod combination) would be useful with students, except for the fact that you cant restrict applications so if you have fun educational games on the Ipod students cant be clocked from using it (unless you mass sync the apps witch is possible).

2) The flip camera I would not use at all. I think that its one function is not enough for me to want to buy it. I had recorded a video on it with audio and a video on my Iphone with audio and the flip cameras video was very grany and audio was muffled, while my iphone have a clear video and good (decent Audio). I figure that say you have a class room st of technology you should (for easy) try to get the device that does it all, which is apple (in my opinion) if I wanted students to record videos I would have them do it off the Ipods because of the beter quality and it being more user friendly.

3&4) with music it is hard to say because if it was a regular day I may just use something to record the class but on a theory day I would use Ipad/Ipods. I think if the teacher had an Ipad and the students had Ipods there has to be an app where they can type questions they have and submit answers for a verbal quiz type of deal. also they could open Piano apps and hear what chords and chord progressions are like, also be able to use music theory apps in groups for little projects.

Additional) I think that using the apple tech in my class I think the Trio (Imac, Ipod, Ipad) would be Ideal. I think having the Imac as a type of office computer containing all my files I want (also possibly have a smart board attached to it) the Ipad for me the teacher and students get Ipods. Using the Ipad as a teacher I could take attendance, keep my grade book, and lead discussions (and control of Ipods) the best thing would be if I needed a document I could pull it off my Imac straight to my Ipad with out worrying about having to sync all my files to wit when I could just grab them directly. Students would get Ipods in which they could communicate to me (as stated above) you could sync them based on lesson plan day. For examples one day I could have a fun theory game for young students, and the next day have the app synced off the Ipod so students aren't temped to play the game while I talk to other things. With apple technologie we can also just plug the Ipod in any receiver because Itunes with register with the Ipod individually so no need to take extra time to make sure student plug them into the right area. We would also have the ability to watch where the Ipods are going with the free app "find my Iphone" (works for any apple product) but this way we can see where it is if lost and also Lock the Ipod with a message on where to return it if found. As a music educator in the High school level it will be hard to incorporate technologies in the sense of computers for students, because they will be playing there instruments more than not, and I will be using a basic recording audio rack to do that, but for my Elementary side I can see many uses for Theory based knowledge for students. I think Apple Technologie has a ton of apps that can be used for education, which Is why I strongly support apple.

Case Study 4 Week 10

1. even though podcasting is relatively easy to set up and record, I feel like you will need a lot of personal preparation to be ready for recording a podcast. A Podcast is recorded and documented for ever. As an instructor you will want to have your lecture almost turned into a "speech" you wond want to make mistakes, the technology will want to be up running and cued up, and probably will blow by students who want to ask questions. it wont feel as "lively" as if it were just a normal class lecture.
2. Attendance I can see as a huge problem with podcasting in that sense of "well why dont I just stay here instead of going to class" granted that is easier in higher education than it is in public schools, but is this just the start for students to use that as an excuse. Benefits I can see for those students who are sick or have family emergencies this could be a good tool for them if they absolutely can not attend class.
3. regardless of a podcast students need to attend class, Like I said above, if I choose to do a podcast recording of every lecture I would only distribute those lectures to students whom could not make the class, this way they have "attended" class to their fullest potential.
4. No. people are different I for one am afraid of online classes, being that i learn face to face (I also pay for that as well). A big part of a class is the comunal discussions and projects, putting things all online takes away that sense of community, and isolates students.
